My rescue girl.

Post by Cadmium »

I picked this girl up from one of the local GSD rescues, the second they brought her out to me she latched on and refused to leave me so of course I couldn't say no.

She's a pretty mellow girl but as time goes on she's getting more and more drive for balls and food, Still haven't found a good way to introduce tug to her

She's a beauty...and nice that you sought out a dog to adopt. (From the eyes up, she kind of reminds me of Kelly's Koenig (?) )

More pictures are necessary, of course.

Did the rescue know what she was??? They often don't....

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!

Welcome to the forum!

What a beautiful girl :wtg: I have a rescue DS as well. The first month is what they call the "honeymoon" phase. Like they try to be extra well behaved, not to screw things up and end up in the shelter again. When they wiggled themselves into our hearts and feel safe that the "return period" is over, they "let the hair down" and show their wild personality.  :dschick:

Thanks guys! she's been a joy the first month or two of having her was the hardest, she didn't know anything now we're going for intermediate obedience and starting some local nosework classes.

as for the tennis balls they lasted maybe the 15 min then I had to take them from her good thing for those indestructible kong balls.

We went backpacking for 4 days in the backcountry, It was awesome to see her run around and try to catch chipmunks
She was growling at something all night.

and finally sleeping
