Hello my name is leah I own two Dutch shepherds male and female have a question if anyone has ever had this happen before my female dutch shepherd I got at 8 weeks she has always been on the smaller side not really big she is 45 lbs and is 12 months old she has not came into heat yet her virgina is still small like a puppys I know dogs can have a silent heat looking to get more information on the breed
I spoke with my vet about it and was told that dutch shepherds are 50/50 breed some are big others are small and was told they tend to come into heat later then other breeds was wondering if this is all true I owned many dogs and have not heard of this happening to one breed I want to breed my female to my male so his blood stays around any input will be very appreciated

Welcome to the forum! My Dutch Shepherd Zoey is also on the small side only about 45 lbs as well. She didn’t get her first heat until she was 16 months! So don’t worry about it. It’s coming... just be prepared when it does.
