I was recently given a copy of Maria Goodavage's new book "Soldier Dogs: The untold story of America's canine heroes" and as someone who worked with military working dogs I am absolutely loving this book. I highly recommend it for anyone with an interest in MWDs.
They mention a couple of times in the book that Dutch Shepherds are one of the breeds used, nothing exciting, but then on the second page of full-color photos there is a very nice picture of a DS alerting to an explosive device during a training course. I was pretty excited to see that

- Tell us about yourself: I was introduced to the Dutch Shepherd breed during my time as an Army veterinary technician working with Military Working Dogs. I fell in love with the breed and by pure chance happened to meet a DS in a local rescue who was a police K9 washout and was up for adoption. We adopted Zodiac right away and she has been an important part of our family ever since. We currently compete in Rally-Obedience and participate in Agility.

Jon Stewart's interview brought a tear to my eyes. Well, a couple of tears.
