Ruth Myers said her decision to save up enough money to purchase a K-9 bulletproof vest for the Seymour Police Department was the result of someone doing something nice for her.

Ace is a 6½-year-old Dutch shepherd and has been working with Surface on the streets for five years.

*Note - I initially struggled with whether to share this story, but I felt like it was important. At a minimum, it's a lesson to be learned about mixing serious dogs with carelessness.

There's more info if you click the link, but apparently she was just out walking, and someone had left the gate open.

There's a lot of unanswered questions to the story, though.

Mick graduated from the K-9 Academy at the end of last month. Decatur Police say he's already credited with finding large amounts of illegal drugs in the area, all in his first month of work.
