I need help. My Pup was gifted to us. Is She A DS ?

Post by ReliRel »

So a family friend gifted us this beautiful pup. Since he could no longer care for it after moving. He mentioned it was a DS but we don’t know. Wondering if anyone has insight as to determining if she is or not?? Truly appreciate everyone ahead of time to this date she is between 9-10 weeks old. I have more pictures

You probably need to wait a bit for a better assessment. The pup is very young.

Thank You Tim. At what age do things began to change for DS pups? Also no pressure at all but from your experience what is your initial take on Beverly (puppy).

You’ll see a lot of changes over the next month. Between 3 to 4 months old your pups ears should be up, coat will stay sleek and close to the body, and the muzzle will elongate with no broadness. The body should stay balanced in regard to height and length.Bone should not be heavy. Personality should be outgoing and active.

I like that name Beverly. Give the pup quality time and attention and it has a great chance to become a great friend and companion.

Beverly is gorgeous. It's too early to tell if she really is DS, but she looks a lot like a DS puppy.

The transformation will be pretty quick.

Please think about training right away. They're never too young, and they are so smart.

Thank you for the feedback. She is bright. We began just doing basic commands and she took to heed really fast. We Definitely have Keeper. There is so much information on the internet that we don’t know what to really pay attention to as far as DS goes. So hopefully I’m in the right track and will keep you posted on Beverly progress.

Thank You once again Tim. Luckily we have a great home full of attention and time for Beverly. She definitely is super outgoing and active although she sleeps a lot right about now. We just got confused because of all the vast amount of DS puppy pics that are online. She checks of a lot of the boxes for a DS. But at the same time since we don’t have a reference point to compare her to we realized that’s each pup develops differently in their own time.

She quite a treat. She’s being doing well. I’m working of her engagement with me. She eats my daughters clothes( Undies, Socks, Leggings, etc) we’ve tried everything new hampers, closet locks laundry locks, but some how she still finds a way. It’s kinda concerning more so for her own health. We have 3 kids at home and at times she nips them pretty hard and looks for them to bite any part of them she can. It’s getting better but it seems like an uphill battle. Any tips to discourage this behavior? She 4 months now she’s a beauty sweet and intelligent.

Adorable.

Have you tried working on "Leave it"? I found it really helpful when Bramble went through the chew up phase. We also gave her one of her toys when we took away items.

Ironically, for the first time Casper chewed up one of Ian's Jenna pieces last night. Hasn't chewed up anything before. Ugh.
