Tell us about yourself: My name is Katrina, I have 1 dutch shepherd name Merlin. He is a handful and keeps things in our house very interesting and fun :)

Seems like only yesterday (2 months ago) that I went and picked Merlin up, he was such a sad little puppy with no confidence. He had no drive for anything. He is now becoming the little monster that is in his blood :D You would never even think he was the same pup. So I thought I would post some pics of him, as he thinks now, that he is the most amazing thing that ever walked the earth. Which to my family, he is ;)

Thank you :) He does have really big paws! He has turned out to have really pretty markings too... Its strange though his chest is almost the blue, but everywhere else his brindle is black.

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

Hey, Check out the picture of Koba in "chest out"... He has that dark chest color too!

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!

Thank you all :) His leg is totally back to normal, thank goodness :D He runs like a maniac, he will be on the other side of the yard and within seconds he is right on top of me. He herds in our little dog who loves to wonder. When we are outside and Chewie doesn't want to come in, I look at Merlin and say go get him. Merlin circles around from the back and Chewie automatically knows what is about to happen and runs to the house. If Chewie happens to be taking his time, Merlin will nip at his feet til he gets on the move. Never hard enough to hurt him, just enough to say, "Hey lets go, when we get in the house she is going to give us a treat." One things I do have to mention is that, because he was so neglected he will do anything just to get you to love him. He loves cut up chicken as treats, but he really loves to be pet and hugged. He is a sweet little monster and Im finally starting to see what being the owner of a DS puppy is all about :tired: I constantly have to tell my son to keeps his toys off the floor and if he doesnt, he knows what happens! So all and all, Merlin has made Chewie listen and my son pick his toys up off the floor, what more can you ask for :player:

Love it, if he doesn't put his toys away, they will be chewed up and destroyed! I guess that brings the "lesson home" without many words. :wtg:

Tell us about yourself: Had a GSD, am getting a DS puppy in a few weeks. Compete in agility, obedience, and cross train in tons of stuff. Found out about this site from the DS Rescue yahoo list.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

How cute he herds his brother! My girls try to herd each other! Im so glad his leg is better! He has such a good home.

I tell my kids the same thing! Toys on the floor = chew toys for Sadie.

Yup, thats why Sugar is not allowed upstairs where the kid's rooms are...and the toys stay up there.

Tell us about yourself: I like Dutch Shepherddogs, especially the roughcoat. At the moment we have three dogs, two DS (one female who is 10 years and one male who is six months) and one male Laekenois at the age of three. We live in the north of The Netherlands.

I really would like to know his line, his mother is registered and his father is registered now. At the time of breeding the father wasn't registered, hence why I was able to get him. The guy was just so interested in getting rid of the puppies and moving on. I have thought about asking him for the information, but he doesn't seem like the type willing to tell me, since I did get the pup at such a good price. When Soba died I had talked to him about getting another pup from him when he decided to breed again. He stated that the father would be registered then and that the pups would be " a lot higher" Who knows, it doesn't really matter, Merlin is the best dog I have ever had either way. It would just be interesting to know :) Thanks to everyone for all the positive comments :D

In KNPV lines you will often see the bigger ears at this age (no offense :dssmile: ) and a heavier skull. This dog seems so well proportioned for his age... But hey, he's not there yet, the bat-ear-episode might still be coming :lol:
