My knuckleheads at 10 months

Post by Mobil »

Mobil's ears keep standing up more and more. I'm not sure they'll stay up; I've kind of reserved myself to both of them just having soft ears forever since they are up and down so much. I love them just as much no matter what, but the snotty remarks I've heard about Dutches with soft ears are sometimes a bit much.

Turbo is 22 inches at the shoulder and 50 pounds

Mobil is 25 inches at the shoulder and just over 70 pounds

Tell us about yourself: DS and Mal foster newly approved aug'12 by NADSR and ABMCR. high-functioning Autistic in nyc/hamptons in my 60's. Rescued the smartest dog i had ever seen off nyc street in 2000. Tracedog's intelligence exceeded by multiples my judgement that day. My first [and only as of 10/2012] dog turned out to be a DS, perhaps with a touch of something else, but attention to detail, behavioral traits, and physical habits, movement, and skill identical to DS. But MUCH more intellectual ability. supremely confident in all settings, fearless, very outgoing and social with people and friendly with dogs. Seldom apart in over 12 years, Trace Dog was the most important relationship of my adult life; he was my partner. He died july17,2012. i am dying without him. www.youtube.com/tracesobaka www.dogster.com/dogs/637612

OMG, they look so adult now!

agree on ears; they sure look up. do they flop like a lab or spaniel or do they just go down-back? they do move them all over the place as mood and communication and activity dictate.

Turbo's are usually soft at the tips. They'll flop over sideways but half up, or bend backwards sometimes at the tips. When she's on high alert or excited, they're up like in the pic above.

Here's another shot of Turbo from the same day :

Mobil's will sometimes be at half mast but flopped to the side, sometimes he gets the lab ears. They are both very expressive with their ears like most other Dutches I've seen, but when they go up erect, it's just like OMG you are SOOOOO pretty.

Here's a better pic of Mobil's sideways ears that I was talking about.

the first 2 pics just look so relaxed.
the 3rd caused a laugh to burst out of me.

i do think they have to be very happy and relaxed to have their ears do all that. think it is adorable.

LOL! Yeah he can look pretty goofy with one up, especially with his always so serious look.

They look so calm. I've got a swollen toe from a Kong being dropped on my big toe 372638 times.
