About stolen pics

Post by Mobil »

I'm not sure if too many people care about pics of their dogs getting snagged, but I thought I'd give a heads-up, as I've noticed that one of the members of the Owners of Dutch Shepherds group on Facebook is using a photo from this forum and claiming it is his DS named Eve. He also posted a pic from another webpage in the FB group itself and claimed it was his dog.

I think it's weird that someone would claim to have a DS and join a group and pretend he has one; I don't know why he's being shady, but thought I'd let our members know.

This is the thread from which the photo was taken, but it looks like this photo is all over the internet on various wallpaper sites and some k9 sites as well.

PM me if you'd like this person's name, since this is a public group I'd rather not post it in the thread.
Dusty,

Interesting, and I almost wouldn't want to know the reason why anyone would do that (claim to be a DS owner if they aren't) unless they want to give advice and want to be seen as DS guru...but...the photo on this site is a few years old and the member isn't active...perhaps he's the new owner of the dog(s)? (Alright, I gave it shot, benefit of the doubt.)

I personally don't post public pics of my dog or anything or anyone. I'm private--and what's on the net not-so-much.

A few years ago, I watched a Youtube video where someone laid a nice soundtrack to pictures of DSs--and right off I recognized one pic as being a member's DS. I thought about saying something, but for a couple reasons that made sense to me, I didn't. But didn't the member post her displeasure over seeing the same vid with her dog in it? Yep.

Thanks for the heads up. Not sure if there's anything to do except know that whatever gets posted is open for grabs. For any number of reasons.
Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

This was the main reason I posted the info. Some people may want to watermark their pics. I know there are some who have professional, high quality photos taken and might want to protect their investment. Or something. Or just hate thieves. LOL
