Swimming
I found a perfect spot for Sadie to get comfortable swimming. She is afraid if she cant touch the ground. There is an old boat launch and the ground stays very shallow and a long gradual decline until its deep enough to swim. I also bought her a life vest, yes, yes I did
Thalie refused to look at it. The life vest really helps Sadie, today was her second time there and I can see that she will swim a bit longer before she starts to get upset and legs go everywhere.

- Tell us about yourself: My family welcomed our first DSD 12/14. I have shown GSD's and APBT's in conformation, my goal is to have more of a working interest with our Dutchie. My husband and I have 4 young children, Kitsune adores them. Kitsune has begun IPO training, we hope to get her BH in 2016. We are in love with this breed and have plans to import a male pup soon.

Re: Swimming
I've been thinking about getting a life vest for H. He can swim and will venture out to the deep end but after two tries refuses to go out again - I think because he finally realizes "hey there's no ground here!" Glad to see I'm also not only one who keeps one of the more... eeeehhhh flailing prone pups on a long line while swimming... People called me crazy...

Re: Swimming
The only reason I have the long line is Sadie wont come out ! She really does love the water, she is better now, but when she was younger, she was far in and did not want to come out so I had to go in and get her, I was not happy. Not that I mind when its 90, but at that time I did not want to get wet.

Beautiful spot. Made even more beautiful by what looks like lack of other people.
Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~
