Tell us about yourself: Sharing life with Bramble Dutch Shepherd mix (?) and Casper Whippet/Pit Bull (????) mix

Re: DNA Test

I was going to copy paste tonight from home computer:
Mixed Breed
28.9% American Pit Bull Terrier
15.1% Australian Cattle Dog
10.9% Chow Chow
9.8% American Staffordshire Terrier
7.8% Labrador Retriever
7.0% Boxer
6.5% Border Collie
14.0% Supermutt

I have to admit, I'm perplexed by the mix combinations. I could see the Am Staff brindle, but her body shape is so different from the first 4 on the list...and really the shape is different even from a lab. And the dogs listed as first cousin relatives are all floppy eared. Even Cattle Dogs have different ears. Plus pits aren't really known for their ball drive, though I guess maybe the patience with children applies.

Plus her tail is really different than any of the breeds on the list.

I'm just really surprised. Not that she's a mix or not a DS...but the combination

Seems like they pulled their standard go-to’s out of their hat. Do they just tell you she has Chow in there, or do they prove it somehow ?

All of her "relatives" are flip eared, except one with shorter up right wars.

They don't really give much on the Chow part. The brindle from a Pitbull I could understand, it's the body shape that confuses me. She's lighter bodies and taller than pits and Cattle Dogs. But maybe it's comes from her Mutt mama.

Pitbulls come in many athletic shapes. Border collies and cattle dogs are drivey types with stand up ears. Pits are driven with strong ear cartilage.

None of the information that you posted here determines the breed of dog.....

That is one of the pages, the main page has the breed break down, including the breed break down of the parents and grandparents. There is also a page of "relatives".

When I pull out my Surface, I can post Bramble's other pages. Just hard to do on an Android from DuckDuckGo.

I took advantage of the $99 special to get a test kit for Leela. I know - not a Dutch Shepherd - but I wanted to compare the results between Wisdom and Embark.

Anyone want to take some guesses at her breed/mix?
No fair peaking at her Wisdom results in this thread

I'm going to guess some lab in the mix based on her coat and chest.

Tell us about yourself: New to Dutch Shepherd life. Adopted Mercy from a rescue on May 8th, 2020. She was born on January 22, 2020. Labeled by rescue as a Dutch Shepherd mix. The more we get to know her, and learn about DS, the more we see this is most definitely true!

I would guess GSD, some retriever, lab, some other herding...

I got a letter from Embark stating that most of there results come back on or before 2-3 weeks, but sometimes they encounter dogs with complicated DNA - therefore, I will have to wait a little longer for her results.

In the meantime, they also posted this interesting video explaining DNA in simple terms:

I'm still shocked by Bramble's results, less due to looks than behavior. She acts more like a DS or Mal than any of the dogs in her DNA profile.

I wonder if Leela has primitive dog DNA which might make her complex. Some of her features look like Carolina Dog.
