Tell us about yourself: Hi! I am from the Harrisbug, PA area. Dog in question is Boomer...a local rescue from a high kill shelter in VA. Also have a 9 year old pitbull, named Shelby. She's a true sweetheart.

I need your help, please?

I don't know if I belong here or not! This is Boomer, my rescue dog. In your humble opinion(s) does he seem to have Dutch Shepherd "blood"? He is relatively small...45 lbs, 21" at the shoulder. I believe he has pitbull in him. The vet seems to agree. But we can't seem to figure out what else. If you don't think so...I'll disappear forever!! Thank you! Oh boy, I hope I did this image thing right.

Sue,

Just from that one picture... i would have to say a mix.

Better pictures always helps.

I'm sure others will jump in and comment with time.

I think the brindle is coming from a pit, am. Stafford or Am. Bulldog or some dog of that type, if you look at the head it's pretty heavy and "staffordisch" :D
Nice looking dog!

I think for sure some sort of pittie as the dominant breed, that's where I would say the brindle comes from. Those ears are hilarious (sorry to make fun of them)! They do look shepardy, so does the tail a little. Could be part Dutchie, could be part GSD (maybe a 1/4?).

Oh yeah, his ears! "bat dog", "mandingo", "dingo dog", he's been called many names! Not by me, mind you! I had to rescue him, figuring no one would want a dog w/such large ears! Poor boy. Thanks so much for your help. So for now, I'll just go with the Heinz 57.

I think he looks very pittie/am staff. He's a very nice looking dog. Very athletic looking.

Tell us about yourself: I have had a DS for almost a year. Gwen and I are considering participating in PSA and or possible Ring Sport. I also have a Great Dane. I have grown up around working GSDs and my last GSD was a working K9 officer. I am all about dogs and animals in general and want to learn as much as I can about training.
