Well, Xena and I went to a very busy park today. She is almost 14 weeks and still unsure around new dogs and some new people so the first little while she was barking a few times as we passed, walking tail down and lagging behind....

But by half way she came out of it! :D She sat and watched several soccer games with parents screaming and refs blowing whistles, met 4-5 dogs who were mostly friendly, studied elderly folks being assisted, played with toddlers, heard loud music, watched (and smelled) the blacksmiths do their thing, practiced listening to me and played "find the keys" (where i throw, hide or "accidentally" drop my keys and she searches for them and lays down with them and touches her nose to them!). She also had a great time romping in the river and meeting (and learning to ignore) the boys on scooters! I wasn't sure how to ask the mom of the new baby if I could try my dog out on it to see how she liked little babies.... so I didn't.

I am so proud of how quickly she can go from fearful to wagging at new people!

She was snoring before we even made the 5 minute trip home.

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.
