Well, we went to the shelter today.
The meeting with Molly went amazing. we both met her individually then with Zia. when the two dogs met there was no aggression, they both licked each others faces and sniffed and checked each other out. didn't even really want to play it seemed. almost like they had known each other forever.

They both rode home in the back seat of the car perfectly. no issues.
This seems to be going the best way possible for everyone.

Had them both in the yard for a while and Molly responded to recall off leash right away. they played nicely and Zia showed Molly the creek we have in the back yard..they both loved it.
I cant imagine why anyone would give up this dog to a shelter. she is truly a sweetheart. Very glad we made the decision to go rescue her.

heres a few pics of Molly and Zia. Molly is 1.5 years old, 45 lbs. Zia is 1 yr 4 months 65 lbs.

Wow, Dusty, that must have been so scarey !!! I have always had female dogs, my one male was a Basset Hound when I was young. We always had multiple dogs but there were Bassets, so.......... they always got along. Mine are also opposite in temperament. Thalie is soooooo laid back and Sadie is full of spit and vinegar. Id rather err on the side of caution and get a male and female.

Having two dogs has been great. Molly listens so well off leash, plus its making Zia listen better. where one dog goes the other goes.

there is definatly some dominance I have been seeing from Zia. nothing aggressive, but she will stand over Molly when she is laying down, or put her mouth on her neck, or kinda push her around a bit. But my assumption is this is normal and they are just getting the pack order figured out.

Molly definatly has a limp from when she was hit by a car. We didn't notice it at the shelter and they had said they never noticed it. but we think she didn't get much time to really run around. well now every day the dogs are running in the yard and swimming.
She goes to the vet tomorrow to get it checked out.

Sadie is glued to Thalie, so where ever thalie goes, Sadie goes, well, most of the time, Sadie has more prey drive so if a squirrel comes by, Sadie will bolt.

Yes, Thalie does this to Sadie all of the time, Sadie thinks she is the top girl, but Thalie makes sure Sadie knows better.

Yea the prey drive in Zia and Molly is pretty much the same. one sees a squirrel there both after it. fun to watch, until they disappear into the woods behind our house. then I gotta go find em!

wonder what'll happen when the deer start coming around again in the winter..or the turkeys!
should be interesting...
