We had a lot of rain lately, cousing a lot of trouble in our surrounding areas and elswhere. Because much of the land is below sealevel it is not always possible to let the water in to the sea:


Just va few inches more and this road will be flooded. It is closed foor all traffic by now:


The army comes to help making a provisional dike :




The sign says "Free to walk arround" which should be changed in "Free to swim":

Almost like it is a see (which it was before 1969) instead of a lake:






Usualy a place for wild horse, they have all been evacuated:

It is taking forever for me to get all the pictures to load, but from the few that I did get to see, it is indeed a scary lot of water. So 'Holland' for those who know it's history with water. I assume you are also getting some good pictures of your Hollandse herders with the flooding as a backdrop? For posterity?

Is it warm over there? I bet they have fun swiming. I hope no ones homes were damaged.

No, it is not warm...
Just heard on the news couple of hundred people have to sleep elsewhere, their houses may flood if the dykes break... jikes!

That's not far from here, I know the place and used to live in that very same area. Some 40 people don't want to leave there homes. In the same area are some dairyfarms with more than a thousand cows, they have to move as well which is a hugh operation.

Is more rain expected (if you can believe meteorologists)? Glad you all were far enough away.

I saw all the flooding on the news. I hope the water recedes soon. But the dogs look like they are having fun.

After having seen your (always great) pictures, I heard on the news this afternoon that a dam in northern Netherlands was in danger of breaking...hope it doesn't! Hope your house isn't in any danger!

just heard reports the dykes made it trough the night...
We live near to the Rhine river, just across the border in Germany, the river was really high this morning, the peak is predicted for tomorrow, it schould rise about 2 metres more... (approx 78 inches)

That not far from here. But nothing happend and the people have returned to their homes by now. We haven't been in immidiate danger btw.

WOW! That is amazing...and rather terrifying...your pictures show the seriousness of the situation! Although, I have to admit, I wish we had some of that rain. Here in Southern California, we have had only one good storm this year so far and no rain in the forecast. I hope we are not going to have another drought.

Your dogs are very beautiful and look right at home in such a landscape!

Yikes! That looks like it could be causing a lot of problems and dangerous situations. My dogs would be doing the same thing, they cannot resist the water! Great photos!
