Here are a couple pictures I took today at lunch when I went home to let him out.





Notice how he is holding his ears back. He only brings them up when he is really at attention like chasing a ball or if he hears something strange he will lift one or both up. He seems to have a lot of control over those big ears. It makes me wonder if they do stand up on their own and he is just holding them down. If you have a Dutch Shepherd that doesn't have their ears standing is this what they look like?

It looks like he is holding his ears back, but I am no expert. Sugar's ears face forward like a typical DS but she has absolutely no cartilage what so ever (or whatever it is that makes their ears stay up) and so they just flop forward. She will mover her ears around and when she is really happy and excited, she puts them back just like yours.

Don't know for sure why they hold ears like that, but my personal opinion is that it's another form of submissive behavior.

Yup, I'd agree its a submissive behaviour.

I third the submissive behaviour. Sadie has her ears back alot too and its when she isnt quite sure. Thalies ears never go back.

Looks like I was wrong his birthday is Nov 23 2010 so he is 16 months old.
