Well Dec 1st my female D.S. will be ready to bring home> I'm going to train with Dutch commands. I really want to give her a Dutch name. At least a name in Dutch! Any suggestions? Thanks for any help! Please include the name and English translation.

Hmmm,,,,,, "Hey" "Knock it off" and "Cut it out" come to mind. We had two bassets and were going to name them "choke" and "puke"

You could google some Dutch language? Or some greek gods would be neat.

Looked at Greek God names already...The wife didn't like any of the ones that I did. You know how that goes, she's the boss lol!

Tineke----pronounced Tina-ka. I met a very sweet person from the Netherlands with that name. My girl is named Roxanne after the song by The Police. I call her my little police dog...lol.

Most truly old fashioned Dutch names tend to be a bit lame. Selena and Marjolein posted some true old timey ones. Typically, it would a an old fashioned formal name "margreet" abbreviated into something else"Grietje" Marleen = Leentje. Josefien = Josje. Louise= Wiesje. Elisabeth = Elsje, Agatha = Aagje. Theresa = Truusje. Not sure about Miep, but maybe Marjolein and Selena know what the formal form of that is?

I just know that many Dutch people refer to fussy or sissy women as a "Miep" (in a funny way). So besides being just a Dutch name, it is also used to point out a person with certain character. Like "Aagje" is used to refer to a nosy person, that always wants to be the first to know stuff. It seemed approptiate for a dog that had to become a mantrailer

Our daughter is named after her granmother and my grandmother( her great granmother) and her official names are Christina ( my MIL calling name was Stien) Elisabeth (calling name Elly,87 and alive & kicking), calling name of our daughter is Chrissie.
