We live on a fenced half-acre on the corner of our landpeoples' 87 acre spread. About 25 acres are hilly fields with a pond, the rest is woods. We have access to all of it.

Maybe 100 feet behind our house is their old barn, with two horses. They've got a huge field that's fenced with a single strand of hot wire for the horses.

Next door to us, our neighbors have two dogs, an elderly one and an adult Labradoodle who looks mostly poodle, and weighs about 90 lbs. Chase (the doodle) is Geyser's favorite playmate. They mostly wrestle and chase each other when they get to play.

I've worked very hard with Geyser about boundaries and fences. Not so hard to teach when you're talking about a real fence with rails and such, but a bit more of a challenge when you're talking about a single strand of hot wire that's a couple of feet above her head :D .

Today, our neighbor took his two dogs out for a walk (they use "our" property, and walk right behind our yard when they go out). He typically takes his dogs around the paddock, then across the wire-fenced horse field to the other side to walk them around the edges of the woods. I never let Geyser enter that field, which would mean crossing that hot fence line.

She was going nutso, wanting to go out and play with Chase. I decided we'd go out, but by the time I got my boots on and grabbed my leash, they'd already crossed the hot-wired fence and started around the larger field.

When I released Geyser, she rushed off to follow their scent, but when she reached the hot-wire fence where they'd crossed, she stopped in her tracks. She wanted to follow them so bad, but she knew not to.

Can you say proud owner? How about PROUD owner? What a good girl!!! :stickman:

We walked the other way, around the wire fence, and she was able to take off and catch up with them way on the other side of the field. Of course, major playing ensued. Everyone was happy, including me, just bursting with pride over her responsibility with the wire fence.
