Today the weatherman was wrong - I wish I had a job where I could be wrong that often and keep my job!

Not a cloud in the sky, nice cool weather, and wanted to get out of the house for awhile. So, I went back to Williams Creek area ... this time I took my camera with me.

Got a little shutter happy.

Nice! I hope that weatherman keeps getting it wrong

You got some great shots of the dogs, Eric! Thanks for sharing them. Gorgeous country up there too. We are just now getting fall down here so I need to get out and get some shots before the leaves are gone. What kind of camera do you have? I have one of those Canon Rebels and am constantly taking tons of pics but downloading and resizing to post online is a royal pain. I havent even posted on this forum any pics of my DS (I REALLY do have a DS by the way, and one DSx ). I'll just have to experiment.

That shot is smack dab in the city. If you want to find nature around here sometimes you have to put a little effort into it. It helps that I live closer to the river...it leaves quite a few areas where they can't build because of flooding. The place where I took the photos of the dogs without water is a side-wash (think gully) that floods pretty bad in heavy rains. that whole section is sand/rock....amazing how nature recovers from frequent washouts.

I have a Rebel as well. Did a lot of reading before I bought it...wasn't sure if I wanted to start a new hobby. The kit lens was "okay" at best, bought a zoom lens that I wish I wouldn't have bought (i.e. should have saved that money for the next lens), and then a nicer image stabilization lens with much better optics...now that lens makes a world of difference! If you start thinking about upgrading, upgrade your optics first!

Several years ago I bought a "light" version of Photoshop. It is has some nice features and I don't use them very often. The product I do like is Adobe Lightroom. Save, categorize, tag, etc....then you just whip through them and checkmark the ones you want to export. during the export process you set the limitations (for the forum I choose no more than 600 pixels on the long side and no bigger than 200kb). All done very quickly.

Another easy and FREE way to resize your photo's is the product that ships with Microsoft office (may be on Windows installations as well). It is their Photoviewer. It has very simple editing menu that lets you easily resize the images.

KEY THING TO REMEMBER?? Never edit your original. always work from a copy. After all this time I still find myself destroying my originals.

Thanks for the suggestions on Adobe Lightroom. I will check into it. My sister also bought a Rebel along with the Zoom which she too said she feels she wasted money on. Glad to know that before I upgrade so plan to go with the optics. I do like a lot of the standard features especially the sports action shots. Hopefully wont be long and I will also have some pics to share here.

I'm the third on here now with a Canon Rebel. Love it, but I do have a second zoom lens with macro. Makes all the difference in the world.
