Dutch Shepherd Forum

Hi everyone,

I joined the forum today because my fiance and I recently rescued a beautiful 2-year-old brindle girl called Molly. We were told that she might be some kind of German Shepherd/whippet cross, but a few days ago a friend suggested she might be a Dutch Shepherd. Having done some research, we discovered that she has a lot of similar traits and characteristics, but we're really curious to see what the experts think! I've attached some pics... just look at that gorgeous face

PS she weight about 20kilos and is 22 inches in height.

In that standing profile pic, she looks very sighthound like. I don't see much else in her besides greyhound or large whippet.

i think Molly may be what would be called a lurcher in Britain - a sighthound/shepherd mix. given her size, i would guess whippet mixed with a collie or other typical European shepherd like German, Belgian, or Dutch. word means ''thief'' and they were bred by commoners when it was illegal for them to own greyhounds, etcetera - usually for the purpose of poaching. they tend to be mindbogglingly clever and goofy dogs that have immense appeal, often combining very unusual intelligence with great speed and agility. a good lurcher seems to know he is ''stealing'' and will stealthily case the scene of the crime and make sure he is not being observed before quickly darting in to execute the plan and then running like hell to avoid being found-out. so funny and endearing for these qualities. there are DS owners here who can probably relate to these personality traits.
