Ice

Like a lot of the Midwest we got here with some fantastic weather as well...

Started with Freezing Rain - about 1/2 an inch or so in my area, then it cleared up a little, and round 2 hit. Probably 2 or 3 inches of sleet. Walking in it was like walking in sand... Plus the 50 some odd mile an hour winds!!

Then in no time flat all that sleet froze solid. In the yard I have probably 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 inches of ice.

...

When it gets cold the back storm door doesn't shut quite right and the dogs can push against it to get out. Had to chip away the ice just to get the gate open and now it won't close properly..

Being the DS that he is, Cino got the storm door open, hit the gate just right to knock it over and off he went. I didn't see any of it...just heard the activity.

When I went looking for him I found him in the trailer that I'm getting ready...he comes out of it and into the yard. Pounces on the ground (proffering play position) and his back legs shoot out from under him.

He gets up and tries to run around me ... all I saw was an image of Fred Flintstone in his stone car!!! He get's his momentum up and tries to stop at the back door...NOT...slid right past the steps.

Now that is a hilarious mental image!! Wish you had a video, like Judith said. Sounds like Cino is a real clown. You be careful in that ice. Accidents can happen so fast. Looks like we will be getting our share down here in the deep south too. It is sleeting now and supposed to get bad by night (temp is in high teens) so I might just have some winter pics to post for the monthly competition. So looks like we will al be hunkering down through all this. Just wish my daughter was in from college (culinary) and we would be cooking the whole time.

there are places in the yard with probably nine inches of solid ice!

Even with all of that ice ... We got off lucky!

Here is what Lake Shore Drive looked like. From what I heard, one of the articulated buses jacknifed and caused a backup on LSD ... as the worst of the storm hit...

those pictures alone make me happy that we only got inches of ice!!

p.s. for those of you who don't know...

LSD is Lake Shore Drive ... it is the road that runs up the East side of Chicago for several miles.

How is everyone out there in this storm?
It is certainly making the news, over much of the US and I am wondering if many of our brindles and their owners are suffering through snow, ice, and power outages. :?

It is cold here in Texas. I know my 4 inces of snow are laughable for most of you. It turned into black ice last night, much like Eric describes, and that took the white romance right out of the event.
