Fender's Hips

Hi everyone,

I know I'm new here, and haven't made that much of an impact, but I really need all the help that I can get.

My rescued Dutch Shepherd Fender has horrible hip displasia, and needs surgery to help him. I have recently been screwed over by the insurance that I got when I adopted him, with them insisting that HD couldn't possibly have developed within the month I've had him. I guess I don't understand insurance, because he's new to me, and so is his condition. The spca missed it, for god knows what reason, which is something I am going to be taking up with them next week, because I think that the fact that every single member of the staff, their trainer, and all their vets and vet techs missed such a severe case of HD is completely unacceptable.

But, I don't know what that will accomplish, other than me letting off some of the heart breaking steam i've got built up inside of me. And we still need to get Fender fixed.

A friend encouraged me to start a funding campaign, to try and help with the cost. If you could please share this with people you know, I would appreciate it a great deal. And Fender would as well.

Thank you.

Im sorry that the insurance is messed up. Calling the spca and yelling may not do anything but just piss everyone off. It is what it is and you should focus on Fender. I dont know how old Fender was when you adopded him, but Sadie has double HD and I didnt start to notice it until she started growing and doing more stuff, then it still took me a bit to see the constant signs. If he was just a pup there, they may not have spotted it if he was just hanging out in a kennel all day.

I adopted him on august 30th. He was 9 months old. He'd been at the shelter for a while I think. I'm not going to yell at them. Mostly I'm going to ask them to help me raise the money. I had him for just a week and noticed it, so I have a hard time believing that NOBODY caught this.

I opened up a savings account for him when I adopted him, and set it up to deposit money every month, so that in case of emergency there would be money for him. I never dreamed that we would have a problem this big, this soon.

They may not have, if he was just in a small kennel with not alot of interaction, they could have missed it. With Sadie, it was when she got up and went up stairs. If he wasnt playing with other dogs and just sitting in a kennel, they could h ave missed it.

If they did or knew about it, it really dosnt matter. Now its about getting him help.
