Coat color options

Hello!

I am new to the breed, but I think Dutch Shepherds sound like amazing dogs!
I have had a hard time finding good/clear examples of different coat colors. I really like the lighter coat colorations, I believe it is a reverse brindle red coat.
If anyone has a photo or photos of dogs with different coat colorations I would love to see what they each look like and learn what each is called. I have read that there are different brindle colors such as black, grey, yellow, silver and red. And what is the difference between brindle and reverse brindle?

Thank you!

Breed standard is dark bridle with no white, though some white is allowable but considered I believe a fault. Blues are silvery colored and reds would have more red in them. Reverse brindle would be more colored with stripes being black, versus brindle with the color being the stripe and black the dominant color.

My guy is a reverse brindle that is between a red and a golden. I want to say they're not common but that's an opinion based in nothing substantial; I don't see a lot of reversed brindles but they could be more common than I know. You can also get fawn colored DS with no stripes, though I don't know if that's an allowable breed standard.

Thank you for the descriptions! Does anyone have a good picture of a red reverse brindle compared to a golden reverse brindle? I'm curious how big of a difference there is between those two colors. I really love the lighter coat colorations. Thanks!

If you go to the photo section on the forum and pick the thread "back at last" you can see a pic of my dog pepper. She is a reverse like hendrix and has a good amount of red to her but it's not necessarily the color like you would find on a red bone hound. It's more like a fox red that blends with the gold in her. I have not seen what I guess would be considered a hi red in the DS yet. I will post a good pic of her from the back that shows the red even better

I found this question very interesting. I've never really put much thought into what "color" or "pattern" Xander is. I just got done googling reverse brindle dutch shepherd, red brindle dutch shepherd, silver brindle dutch shepherd, etc... I found pictures of all the options. I came to the conclusion that no two ds look anything alike. Lol. They all have their own unique coloring. And I'm still not sure what category Xander would fall into. I can also sat that his color changed alot from puppy to grown up. He went through a few different shades and patterns before becoming what he is now.

There's no real such thing as a "reverse" brindle in DS. It's just a varying thickness of stripes that causes the dog to show more of the light colored hair. You can get lighter looking dogs from darker parents and vs versa. Genetics can play a part in how many stripes there are and the pattern, but it's not a color gene being passed on.

I had a foster DS that was different on each side of his body. One was very light, with a few stripes making him look like a malinois, the other had more stripes, closer together.

The official breed clubs allow for a silver brindle or gold brindle or the yellow/fawn (malinois). I believe the silver is more often expressed in the rough and long coats and I would guess goes back to Belgian Tervurens since they can have a silver.

The fawn dogs can't be shown in conformation. Blue can crop up too, but that's still a brindle with a dilute gene affecting the way black is expressed in the pattern.

Thank you for clarifying Stephanie. I have seen a blue ds and they are really cool looking. I think he was from Cher car kennels.
