Hi all,

Happy to be apart of the forum. I currently own a female DS and she is 8 years old weighing in at 110 LBS. I currently have her on a diet as my parents had a heavy hand on over feeding her so I have not put her on a strict diet.. hope to get more info from other breeders as well =) always looking to learn new tips and tricks.

Only problem i guess i have with her is that she is very sluggish and doesn't like to play anymore (maybe its her weight)

You may want to consider a lower carb, higher protein food. I know my parents are quite bad with giving their dogs lots of carbs and even sugary things - which really packs on the pounds.

I reside in Toronto.. More exact Markham =).

Currently I have her on the Royal Canin but I am looking for better kibble for her. At night I feed her chicken which as been boiled. Portion size is 1 cup shredded. I've fed her raw chicken, beef, pork and lamb also.

Before my parents used to giver her ice cream and tea biscuits but that has now stopped (on going since she was between the ages of 1 - 4). she is 8 now, she doesn't show or have signs of any health problems (so lucky) but I am slowly reducing her weight. my goal is to have her by 90 lbs by spring =) she is currently at 110 - 115

i would not waste ANY time getting her off royal canin. all the major ingredients lack anything really healthy for her but are packed with empty calories. rice - a huge portion of this food - is starch flavored with arsenic.

as a kibble, cannot do better than merrick GRAIN-FREE, and it is basically the same price and readily available.

I 2nd the recommendation to switch kibbles. Merrick is high quality and Ive also had great experiences with Orijen.
