- Tell us about yourself: My name is Karen and I have a dutch shepherd, Xander, born 6/14/13. He is my second dutch shepherd. My first was Rawly. Even though Xander is my second I still have a lot to learn. That is why I'm here, to learn, get advice, and meet people who love these guys as much as I do.

We have found a great hobby
Xander is doing great with bike riding. I tell him "ready" and "left" or "right". And he watches me and knows which way to turn. We have built up to about 3 miles. I love this. He is great. What a great dog. I love my Xander.

If you put in the time, it's amazing what you get in return. The rewards far outweigh any early grumbling and nail-biting.
Yea, Xander! He must love it!
P.S.: What happens if a squirrel or something crosses your paths? I can't remember his focus, if he's easily tripped by distractions.

He doesn't think twice about squirrels birds or cats when we are biking. If one runs by closely he may glance at it but then right back to biking.
Now at home in the back yard he will chase anything that moves. For some reason he is far more focused while out on a ride.
