Anna sure is a cutey!

Yes, she is a cutie otherwise I would have called my husband crazy for surprising me when he brought her home from the escue place he volunteers ... he sees the dogs before they are available for adoption and had a couple weeks to bond with her. My husband that wants a big male German shepherd! She must have really done a number on him!

Every thing except the white feet tell me dutchie but I've had a couple friends wonder if there isn't a little akita in there somewhere. That would not surprise me if she grows up to weigh more than 80 pounds or so. I've had two female akitas in the past.

She is very nice lookin and the socks are great, I just don't see any DS in her, Tell me what you see in her other than a brindle coat and standing ears that tells you she is Dutch?

Her body shape and drive match Lexi's.

Ok it helps us all in how we view dogs. I see lots of DS every week from breeders here in the US and imported dogs and make it a point to ask " where from". I have noticed dogs from Europe and a few breeders here in the states have very defined lines, top line, stop on the muzzle, flat heads, extreme mussle in the hind quarter and not a lot of heavy bone in legs fore and aft. When doing my research on a breeder that is what attracted me to Betsy and Vandalia and TimoXTeeka, Rudie Pegge Arko Kikkert KNPV. When I see these questions I always refer to the breed standard and view the pictures posted as best as I can. Am I looking for best in breed, no but, I am looking for some of the defining traits without having my heart sway me one way or another. As to drives a high prey drive Lab can have as much as a high prey drive Dutch so for me drive would not be a factor in is this a Dutch or any breed for that matter.

Thanks. I did not know that about drive. My other dogs did not have a lot of drive so I attributed it to the breed. Anna is such a precious, smart, and at times monster, I would love her no matter what her breed or size. I don't have your experience with all types of dutchies. I only have my Lexi to compare her against. Thanks for your response!!

Yes, train her up! The funny thing is now with the pup in the family I've needed to take lexi''s training up a notch. We have an upcoming extended vacation. I told my husband we need to take both lexi and Anna to training classes. It will be a good refresh for lexi. Good for both not only aspect of training but just being around a group of dogs and other distractions. It used to tick me off if it was a distraction lesson. Lexi would be good until they rolled a ball past us. Argh! 5hat was a year ago. I would think we could conquer that distraction this round.

Two a Tom Rose School graduate or Controlled Chaos

Tom Rose has training classes under their affiliation The Dog House. Mostly students involved with senior staff for the group classes. That is where we took Lexi for her training in 2014/2015. Will most likely be where we go again once we are back from our vacation. Thanks.

At this point, without a standing picture, I would be inclined to disagree with Rodger. I see some DS traits in her but time will ultimately tell. I love her coloring! But I'm biased...

Ok Kira you disagree but, you don't mention the traits that YOU see to believe Anna is a Dutch Shepherd. Please so we can all learn, explain.

I tried to get some side shots last night but the little bugger won't stand still long enough. I'll try again this weekend with the help of family. Maybe get side by side with lexi. Will be fun to look back on a year from now when she grows up.

I did some research last night. Lexi's tail curves up sometimes but Annas curls up over her.back. I searched dog breeds with that trait and found several site that listed northern breeds such as huskey, malamute, akita ... I then searched dog breeds with brindle color. The cross March was AKITA. Are you kidding me?!? I rescue two and said I'd never own another due to health issues. Why didn't I see it? Well. With Anna side by side with leXi it is easy to see the.body similarities. If my last akita were still alive, I probably would have seen the similarities even down to the white paws!! I don't believe Anna is full akita ... but with her super high energy and intelligence maybe a little dutchie is in there somewhere. Whatever she is, she is an awesome puppy. If I could just train her to chew on my husbands socks instead of mine!! I'll get picks this weekend. Thanks!

Lol I remember those days of sock chewing! It's always interesting watching them grow up. So much changes! In honesty I agree not full Akita, and as she grows we'll be able to make a better call. As of now I stand by my view, and can't wait to see her grow up! Who knows, by then she may decide she's part tiger.
