Sugar at the lake

I took Sugar to a dog beach this weekend, and was hoping to get her swimming. I’d throw a stick in to tempt her and while she enjoyed the stick-chasing and water, she would only get it if she didn’t go in past her chest. Maybe next time!
Here’s a video.

She is cute!
You may have more luck with her and water if you got in the shallows with her, and tossed a favorite toy back and forth parallel to the shore, as opposed to out deeper, playing in the water with her for a while.

That's a good idea, I'll try that when it warms up! Thanks

awww cute video, reminds me!
We (=Johan) had to get in the water with the stick, and Dingo would than follow and start swimming. Same thing with Ivil, she jumped straight in as an 8 week old pup and swam all summer, next spring she didn't go in anymore, and Johan had to go in the frrrrrreezing water agin in his boxers, to get her to swim

"What do you mean, swim?"

"NO!"

ha ha, cute!
I was hoping to not have to go in the cold water myself. Is that hypocritical?
I will try again when its warmer for sure.

so the poor pup has to go in, but you think it's too cold? That's unfair! At least I
send my boyfriend went in! Just bring a towel
or better, a boyfriend.

I'm terrible. I had seen Koenig swim in a pond (he fell in, whoops!) and he wouldn't get in a lake we were trying to get him to swim in soon after I got him. I shoved him off the dock. It seemed to solve our problem, as now he'll happily charge into any water (including through/over 2' surf!) or off any dock. I only did that because I had SEEN him swim, and knew he wouldn't sink like a rock.
