Hello! My name is Mackenzie and I'm new here. I've been lurking a little, and doing my research to decide if a DS is right for me. As luck would have it, my local SPCA just rescued 13 week old DS mixes. They aren't sure what they're mixed with - I'm hoping maybe people have some guesses for me? I'll post a picture.

I know DS's are pretty intense, which is why I'm hoping to have decent guess on what these guys are mixed with? I know it can be difficult to tell in puppies but I figured I'd give it a shot! Really would love to rescue one, and can't wait to hopefully get my DS one way or another!

They do have that DS puppy look, but as you said, it's so hard to tell at that age.

Are you hoping that a mixed pup will be easier for you since they might be less intense ? It would be very hard to determine exactly what the pups are , but being a mix with another pure bred dog would be unlikely.

Yes, I'd like to ease my way in with a mix before going for a pure bred. I've read many posts on here saying that the mix can lower drive. My other concern is that they'd be mixed with a pit bull, rotty, etc. - more aggresive breeds that I don't have much experience with.

I don't know what Bramble is either, but she seems to be a Dutch Shepherd mixed with something. The trainer says she is a "high drive" dog. She can be very intense. As the new trainer said at one point in our session when she turned on, "oh wow, the Dutch Shepherd came out to play."

(((Not to suggest her "high drive" equates to a pure bred's.)))

These pups are getting a little age on them and need to be socialized so they don’t become afraid of the world. Does the SPCA do a full blown temperament test and advise you on their findings ?
