Earlier today, the forum website started out slow and then eventually became unavailable for a few hours.

I have received notification from the site's hosting provider that the server we are hosted on came under what is known as DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack.

This is the best definition I could find for DDOS:

Please note that this type of attack is meant to disrupt service, and it is not normally meant to steal private information.
