Hi there. My name is Kori and 2 weeks ago I adopted this gangly hyena looking thing, that seems to be at least part Dutch Shepherd, named Joe Pye! He is likely 6-9 months old, came from a neglect situation (pardon his missing fur and bony bod) and I’m so glad I found this forum for his sake. While he might not be a purebred his behavior is right on point for a Dutchie, and I’ve appreciated reading everything on here from the suggestions for elk antlers (that are the only thing that keep him from gnawing on my bed frame and have greatly accelerated crate training) as well as confirmation that all the weird sounds he makes and scheduled nightly parkour sessions on my furniture are normal

I love his little sock feet......and are those Bison?

I have only been around one Bison....and he used to freak me out wanting to be brushed all the time. Stalked by a Bison is a creepy feeling.

Yes, they have a small herd of them at a local park in central Ohio. They keep them in large native prairie pastures so visitors can see how sustainable grazing manages the land. The bison see a lot of people and dogs on the trail so they were not too phased. This was the first time I’ve seen them so close to the fence and not way out in the tall grass! The dog was not amused by them, I guess he prefers to herd squirrel/cat sized things.

I’m so sorry. We lost our Australian Shepherd 6 months ago and it was hard to have that void, especially with the current state of the world. I’ve been going crazy working from home and told my fiancé I needed more than a dog, I needed a project. A 9 month old Dutch shepherd mix has been a project indeed! I hope you can find another dog to help fill the hole.
