K9 Charlie and his handler, Deputy Sheriff Nils Hanson, underwent several weeks of training to prepare for the canine position with the office.

Vosges gendarmerie announces training of new sniffer dog

Only three months old, the Dutch shepherd is expected to soon begin her training alongside an officer and take over the duties formerly fulfilled by sniffer dog Wali, who will retire in 2024.

...following the heartbreaking story of Riot the dog, who was shot and killed by a neighbour who apparently mistook the brindle Dutch shepherd for a coyote.

Last week, both the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and the Ontario Provincial Police announced that no charges would be laid against the neighbor.
