In November 2023, I adopted a beautiful 4 month old puppy advertised as a Dutch Shepherd mix. All of the vet paperwork that I received described her as A Dutch shepherd. Blaze is very confident, calm, quiet, and dignified. She's extremely watchful of everything, all of the time. She's very friendly and playful yet extremely protective at the same time. She interacts and plays but
watches everyone who doesn't live here with suspicion.
When I first got her, everyone kept thinking she was a Doberman. But the shelter and the vets insisted she was a Dutch Shepherd. Her body type is definitely NOT Doberman.
Blaze has brindle legs and on her face. Her toes, and chest are white. But she's mostly black. She has a short, thick coat, with undercoat, that's water repellent. She LOVES being in the water too.
I finally decided to do the Embark dna test. The form you submit with your sample asks you to guess what breed you think it is. Because I didn't want to influence the test, I decided to say she's a pitbull. Now, I wish I hadn't done that. The test came back saying she's a mix of
37.7% Pitbull
21.1% American Bully
8.4% Great Pyrenees
7.4% German Shepherd
7% Bulldog
5.4% Australian Shepherd
4.8% French Bulldog
8.2% Labrador and Chow
They explain that the breeds with less than 7% are very minimal and were probably just used in breeding program to correct something. The results are... WEIRD.
(Notice how the test doesn't list Doberman nor Dutch Shepherd)
Embark shows me her CLOSEST registered relatives. What a joke!! Supposedly, her closest relatives are all American Bully that look NOTHING like her and act NOTHING like her. I watched a YouTube video where a tester used an award winning Great Dane but said it was a Chihuahua, Svcs the results came back as 100% purebred Chihuahua . This tester also sent in samples of HIS DNA and 4/5 test said he was a dog. One of them said he was 100% Chihuahua!! Only 1 test said he was human.
So, here I am. Back at square one.
To my eye, Blaze is obviously a Shepherd.
I'm submitting pics (for your enjoyment)
Lol

I own 7 wooded acres in rural northern Florida.
In November I adopted a 4 month old female Dutch Shepherd (Blaze) . She gets plenty of daily exercise running around with my 3 year old American Staffordshire Terrier (Jax), who I adopted when he was 10 months old. The 2 of them are inseparable they follow me around and one of them lasts at each side. For some reason they love to play under my bed. Every chew toy they get immediately disappears under my bed. The bed is king size and I'm disabled, so it's pretty much gone. Lol 😆 🤣 😂
But I hear them enjoying chomping on them.
