Re: sitting in the dishwasher pic - I have pics of mine doing stuff they aren't allowed to do too; they can look so cute that snapping a pic is irresistible! BTW, you probably know already, but dishwasher soap is very toxic for doggies.

I'm glad she got to dry off after swimming in the pond, NOT a cycle in the dishwasher

I saw it on a list of household dangers for dogs, and looking at my box of dishwasher soap, it has a big caution notice saying "Do not get in eyes, on skin or clothing. Contains sodium carbonate, sodium silicate and enzymes - if swallowed give a glassful of water and call Poison Control or Dr immediately. Do not induce vomiting".

What is it about open dishwashers that so intrigues young dogs? Mine have always wanted to 'help' when I am loading dishes, usually trying to sneak a lick or two off a pan.

Love the pictures of Xena, the wild child!! I too have a Zena, the GSD who killed 2 doz of my chickens and ducks recently. At her old age, she is STILL a wild child!

A lick or two? I have one that steals the siverware out of there, for a prewash cycle.
And one who was allowed to do the dishwasher sit as a pup, when she was still living with her breeder. Now, at , 1 year old, she is huge (we call her chocolate moose) and she does not understand my panic when she starts to put her front feet on the open door. (she would no doubt crush the thing)

I keep thinking that there is some kind of helpful training in there somewhere...... The fact that she can put ANYTHING in the dishwasher without being told (even if it is just herself) means that she is more trainable than my kids.....

All of my bassets growing up did prewash, and one did flip the dishwasher out of the counter, the top was a wood cutting board so it really just sat there, no one really figured that a Bassett would do that.

I have one of those pre-wash devices too, it also cleans any spilled liquids on the floor, and left over cookies from the table, and so far, it has proven to be the only tool to actually get that grill all clean again We call it the "Ivil"

I have two at my house as well, they are better than the static mops because they pick up AND clean. One goes through and the other checks for missed pieces, I dont need to plug them in or put batteries on them, they can be noisy at times though.
