Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

Hello "Isis" and Panzer. Would you mind posting a short intro about yourself in 'new member announcements? Nothing aoutreageous, just so we know 'who' you are, please.

Well, if there is breeder out there who names her Dutch shepherd kennel after a city in Germany (Aachen), then maybe this tank came from that breeder?

I like the name! (I'm going by sound here, not so much meaning, tho little tank isn't such a bad reference...)

Thank you for the kind replies! All of the dogs in my house "speak" German, I have Working line German Shepherds and this is my first Dutch Shepherd! The direct translation for Panzer is "armored", although most of us know in conversation that a Panzer would be a German tank. I am very excited about my Dutch Shepherd! He is so much fun and trouble I can hardly stand it! He holds his own with the big dogs and is quite different than the GSD's at least when they were pups.

I will go to the intro thread and introduce myself...sorry about that!!!

While we are splitting hair over German translations, BTW not a smart thing to start with a native German.............. :dsangry:

Since the word Panzer is a noun, the direct translation would be armour, shell, or tank.

Ah, thank you! I didn't know it was a noun, but I did know it meant something like armour or armored. Both of my folks are from Germany and I can understand and speak conversational German, but my grammar isn't always very good.

BTW..I didn't mean to start splitting hairs with you or anyone...I thought I'd explain why I named my Dutch Shepherd such a name, that's all. Sorry If I offended you.
