A few days ago Joep has been plucked for the first time in his live, he is 8 months old now. He behaved great while being plucked and this is the result. He almost looks like a short hair DS, fortunately there curly fur grows fast and he will look like a real rough coat again pretty soon :

I used to do that to my airedale during his show days. Then I got lazy and started clipping.... It just isn't the same.

Jan, why do they manually pluck the rough haired DS's? (versus trim or shave like you would most other rough haired breeds?)

They are plucked because by doing so all the dead hair will come out which is not the case when you shave or trim them. The reason for plucking is that their hair gets loose in time while underneath all this dead hair grows a new fur which wouldn't come out otherwhise.
