Opinion on breed?

Hello, I'd like to get some opinions on what breed my dog might be! It doesn't really matter to me, I adore him regardless, but I get asked every single time I step outside (no joke) so I'm curious. I rescued him about 1.5 years ago and he's probably around 3 years old now. He definitely has a strong prey drive and herding instinct (he tends to herd smaller dogs at the dog park). He's not a big barker, very friendly, and rather smart. He's around 66-68 lbs and 24" tall. His name is Frankie. He has a white chest, not sure if you can tell from the pictures.

Thank you for rescuing :wtg:

If you had a chance to read the DNA post, especially the statement from the company that performs DNA testing, you would know that visual identification is a difficult and faulty task.

Obviously, the herding behavior points towards a Shepherd, and there is definitely the Shepherd look in Frankie. The brindle and pointy ears is a dominate trait in many breeds, so it could be something else mixed in.

The tail on a DS is usually not so narrow at the end, and something about the shape of the top of the head says probably not.

The good news is that a "Shepherd Mix" is a great way to answer the question, and as you've stated it doesn't matter that much.
