3 year old neutered male "Dallas"

Post by CaroleBoaz »

Today I picked up a dog from a shelter for the NADSR rescue.

He's a nice male with a lot of ball drive. Also, likes to play tug. He was keep in a laundry room with a Pom, and didn't get much time outside for exercise. He's been in the shelter for 4 days and was really stressed, but when I went to pick him up,it was obvious that he had bonded with the employees there, and gave one kisses before I took him home.

He's a nice looking dog, very sturdy and strong. He has only been in my home for 2 hours and is still a little nervous, but seems to be accepting that he is in a new situation.

I'm supposed to have him until Monday when the foster comes to pick him up, but honestly, I think he's going to be adopted soon. I don't know if the NADSR has a waiting list, but this guy will make somebody very happy.

He is potty trained, and according to the shelter, good with other dogs and cats. Balto was trying to get him to play, but according to the shelter people, he's not really interested in other dogs.

Interested parties should contact Trudy at the NADSR.

(There's nothing wrong with his tail, it's just a weird photo.)

I hope to get some better photos tomorrow. Right now he's sleeping on the kitchen floor, on a dog bed.

Carol, thanks for pulling him. Cory may already have an great home lined up, but if not, I know Trudy has lots of PreAdopts.

This week there seems to be an influx! Thanks Trudy for all of the hard work coordinating their saves!

I figured there might be some pre-applicants. I can't see anybody turning this guy down.

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!

I've only had him for one full day, but he's already very affectionate and well mannered. Loves to play and be petted.

Well, the new owner for Dallas, slipped on the ice last weekend and broke his/her leg. So, Dallas is again looking for a nice pet home. I just handed him off to the permanent foster, so he's not with me anymore. But he is a real sweetie. Loves playing tug and catch/fetch, but will lay down if you're too busy. Totally house broken, not destructive. Good with other dogs, cats, and children. He's a tall boy at 26.5" and 66 pounds. Loves to give kisses and get petted. I took him to my dog training club and he liked the attention he got from strangers. Anybody looking for a "Beginner Dutchie", he'd be great for obedience, tracking, he could probably do alright in agility, too. He reminds me so much of my starter dog.

Pass it on.

My Laekenois tried many times to get him to play, it looked like he was thinking about it on Saturday. Balto can be very convincing. He reminds me of "Dug" from the movie "Up".
