Hello from Utah!

Post by kj777 »

Hello! Back in 2010, a coworker of my boyfriend informed him that she had rescued a dog the day before her kill date. The coworker did not have room to foster the dog and asked my boyfriend and I to keep her until we found her a home. Neither of us had ever met a Dutch Shepherd before and were enthralled. We were told (third hand) that she was a former police dog, somewhere between the ages of 3 and 5. She was dirty, her teeth were almost all the way worn down and she was sick. We washed her and took care of here, never planning to keep her.
Two years later and Samus is the best thing that ever happened to us. She is extremely affectionate and loves the outdoors. I am glad I found this board!

Tell us about yourself: I just got Harlough a 7 year old Dutch. She is the best dog ever! We camp, we hike, we fish( I read, she swims, and my husband is the only one actually trying to fish) and we go everywhere we possibly can together. She loves my neices and nephews, and even the cats have warmed up to her.

Tell us about yourself: I am in New York State. Got my first DS about 14 years ago (more or less as a rescue- lost her in Nov.). After years of GSD's, and a few dogs of other breeds (Rotti/Beauceron/Ger. Shorthaired Pointer/ Yorkie and my current Jack Russell) I now have another DS, 4mo female, no name yet, tho I have a few in mind.
Also have a horse-old quarter horse mare-32.
Can't wait for all the snow to get gone! Spring is coming too slow this year!
