I remember reading a few posts back with members that had both poodles and a DS.
How are their energy levels and personalities compatible in the home?
I know a lot of it can depend on the individual dogs, but personally, mine plays a lot better with his Malinois friends than some of the other breeds because of play styles and energy levels.
I might be getting a standard poodle foster soon and was just curious as to what people have experienced in the past. I'm not expecting them to be best friends going in and there will be an adjustment period, but would like to know how it has been in other households.
Anyone here have Standard Poodles?

Re: Anyone here have Standard Poodles?
Would totally depend on the dog you're getting. I've known a few standard poodles that can keep their own with the Dutchies and play similarly, rough and fast, feisty dogs. I've also known ones that were soft mush balls that had to be saved from anything resembling rough play or would get very defensive towards any dog that tried rough play.

Re: Anyone here have Standard Poodles?
Ellie hasn't met a standard poodle that she doesn't like. But...she meets them at the park. They're super fast like a DS and a lot of them are high energy.
Not necessarily all of them though. How old will the foster be?

The potential foster is 1. I heard he's pretty energetic and plays well with the dogs in his current home. My Dutch is 2 and finally calming down, so they're pretty similar in age and activity levels. My trainer's going to evaluate the poodle this weekend with her 4 year old Mal (Odin's best friend) and 6 month old puppy (also a Malinois), so we'll see how that goes.

Re: Anyone here have Standard Poodles?
Zane plays well with one of my parents' standard poodles, the other just wants to fight Zane so we don't let them get into it (they do fine together in the house if someone's keeping an eye on them).
He did pee on all of their dog beds systematically the first time he visited my parents' house but has been an angel at their place since then.
He has a few big doodle friends too, so I wouldn't anticipate it being a problem beyond normal new dog in the house issues.
