Tell us about yourself: Artist, Mother, Equestrienne, Educator, Homesteader wannabe, dog-lover. Not counting my current DS, I have had 2 GSDs and 3 rescued mixed-breeds. All of these dogs were rescues, except for my childhood GSD, who was a gift from my parents when I was 7, and my current DS who I bartered artwork for from the breeder. Maiyou, one of my current dogs, is a Pitbull/New Guinea Singing Dog of 13 years old. Still very active and "Young" in nature. I now also have a DS named Mokume, (pronounced "Moh-koo-meh") or "Moko" for short. Newest member of our pack is Freyja, a random mixed hound I rescued during a horseback trip in the middle of a state forest.

Custom Art to support NADSR! :)

Post by feraloup »

I have been accepted as a vendor at this year's annual "beCAUSE" craft show, held March 22 here in VT at St. Michael's college.

The entry fees to the show go directly to the VT food-bank, and in addition, every participating vendor signs a contract that 50% or more of their profit from the show gets donated to a non-profit of their choice. I have spoken to Trudy and Cheryl with NADSR and they are my "cause" for the event. :) I will be displaying/promoting NADSR at my table as well as donating proceeds to them. I wanted to post here, as well, because I love doing custom work, in addition to the things I create and stock at my table. Any custom orders for any art that I receive prior to the show on March 22 will be included as part of my show sales.

I do have some Dutch Shepherd-specific jewelry and art that I've been working on, but don't yet have photos to post, that will come soon, but I didn't want to waste too much time before posting this announcement, either. I have included a few samples of other art I have done and am happy to email other examples to anyone who is interested.

Jewelry, eggshell ornaments, portraiture, anything ordered between now and the show will benefit NADSR. :DSlove:

Wee! :) Look forward to meeting you! Where in VT are you, again? (I think you mentioned when you joined the forum but my computer access is iffy and I don't participate as often as I'd like.) I live in Vergennes and work in Shelburne. I grew up in South Burlington. When you get your girl we can arrange some playmates, if you like! :D

I just made this hair adornment for myself, with Moko as my model. I used a tiny alligator clip for attaching it to my hair, and the flat shell bead I painted Moko's face on, and added wire wrapping, sparklies, and a BRINDLED feather! (From one of my partridge chanticler hens) :) Let me know if I can do anything featuring your Dutch for you! All orders taken between now and the show will be included as part of my show profits to benefit NADSR. I'm also finishing up a Dutch Shepherd mask, photos when I'm done, and I have some earrings and pendants and notecards as well that I need to get photos of. Will hopefully get those posted before the end of the week.

If you are on facebook feel free to friend me, (Autumn Dufresne) and I'd deeply appreciate it if you'd "Like" my page I created just for my art efforts. If you google "Singing Dog Visual Arts" you should come up with a link to the facebook page and an Etsy page. Thank you!

Very nice work, Autumn.

I make jewelry (it's sitting in boxes), so I'll see what I can do for a monetary donation....

BEST OF LUCK!!!
Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

Tell us about yourself: I live in Metro-West Boston with my husband and our rescued Dutch Shepherd, Minnie. She loves anything involving activity. Our first rescued DS, Kaya, loved to tug. Our second rescued DS (who actually turned out to be a GSDx), Marley, loved to nap. I volunteer for the North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue and am a member of the NADSR BOD.
