I know I'm going to get in trouble but here goes.
I think I've mentioned this before. I always think Dutch is Greg's dog he follows him around the house sleeps under his side of the bed. Greg feeds him food from his plate lays under his feet. Dutch would never look at me when I'm eating it's not going to happen. I don't give him food I praise him when he's good. When I say something I mean it I'll put him in his place and not think twice. We equally walk on opposite days. Dutch can tell and will protest sometimes if Greg's busy but I won't have any of it. I'll play with him (catch ball fetch give this to Greg etc.). He goes absolutely bonkers when Greg’s going to walk him. He loves it when I bring out my remote control cars. It probably drives the neighbors’ nuts with all that noise.
When I walk him he needs to walk with me he needs to be calm when I put the harness on him. I look around and ahead before I let him off the leash and don't let him more than 10 feet around him. I have never lost him he's always come back when I call and tell him to stop. The leash will go on and the walk is over. I don't play games. Even if he's in the car, I won't let him out until he lies downs properly. Because I know what a crouch is.
Here's the problem. Greg has lost him 2. Once last night. He didn't come out of were ever he was until I got involved. Then he completely avoids me for 2 days.
What's with that? Why does he take off on him and not me and what do you do about it? When I’m walking him we come across all kinds of stuff. Nothing, it’s not like he doesn’t see it I just think see it first.
Frustrating

Your not in trouble, Gregg is, I think HE needs to go to the dog house.
Dutch knows that Gregg is a push over and he can do what ever he wants. He knows with you he cant get away with anything and responds to that.
Personally, If Gregg looses Dutch, I would NOT allow him to take him out, or he MUST MUST STAY on the leash, is it worth Dutch getting hurt or hit by a care because Gregg thinks its cute to let Dutch do what ever he wants. Me thinks not.
The other stuff, that is up to you as to what ground rules you want to apply and stick to them. My girls lay under the table and they get treats, but the will come out and lay "over there" and stay if I say so.
How do you want to run the doggy world? Your rules or Greggs, yours sound better and safer for Dutch.

I second Lisa's reply all the way around, including the bit about Gregg in the dog house
, but especially about Dutch's safety.
My husband's pretty good, yet my Thor will do things with the husband that he won't with me, then the husband wonders why.... Thor knows when his father is serious, but the point is: he shouldn't have to "get" serious. I don't blame Thor. The husband's the one with his name on the shingle above the proverbial dog house.
Does your husband realize how serious an offense running off/no recall is? (Some folks don't think much of it as long as nothing happens.)

Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

All qite on the western front. Dutch must have known that Greg was inthe dog house cause he stuck to me last night.
We had a long discussion about Greg being only allowed to walk him on the streets or at least with the leash on at all times if he wants to let him off leash pick a dog park. We have many in the area.
We'll see.

Haha! I agree here completely. My parents separated when I was young and the general rule was "ask dad". Hobbes does the same thing, he tests us all the time. He will bring his ball to Sam and ask to play, and if he is to busy (rare) then he'll try me. Or food, he tries both of us all the time.
