So Logan has learned a new trick - being able to escape from his crate. We've tried two different types from the local pet store: the first was a wire crate which he was able to bend and deform to get out of, the second was a plastic crate with a wire door (in the pic) which he managed to bend and deform also.
Our breeder recommend the following crate from Redline
http://www.allk-9.com/aluminum-diamond- ... p-381.html
The only problem is that the website I use allk-9.com does not ship to Canada and it appears that Redline is not sold directly by any Canadian sites/retailers.
I stumbled across the following crate from Zinger which I thought looked equivalent and pretty good.
http://zingerwinger.com/xcart/product.p ... 399&page=1
But since its a pretty expensive investment I was wondering if anyone has any experiences with the Zinger crate? Also does anyone know if the "Professional with Escape Artist Upgrade" is worth the extra $150 cost?
And if anyone does know where to get the breeder recommended Redline crate in Canada please let me know?
Thanks guys!

Re: Escaping from crate
I've known several "escape artists" that haven't been able to get out of a metal crate. Zinger and Impact are I think the top two. I personally have an Impact crate for car rides since I have a sedan and it was the only crate I could get to fit. My guy loves it and it's very sturdy.
You can check out Impact crate reviews on Amazon and I think Elite K9 also carries them.

Don't laugh when I ask, but in the link you provided it reads "aluminum." It's not an aluminum crate, is it?

I believe it's an aluminum alloy. I used to know exactly which one. I think mine is steel alloy. Powder coated and all edges filed down.

Ya it's definitely an aluminum alloy - both the Redline and the Zinger crates.
I'll check out the Impact reviews on amazon- thanks! I hadn't heard of that brand before.

Rescued the smartest dog i had ever seen off nyc street in 2000. Tracedog's intelligence exceeded by multiples my judgement that day. My first [and only as of 10/2012] dog turned out to be a DS, perhaps with a touch of something else, but attention to detail, behavioral traits, and physical habits, movement, and skill identical to DS. But MUCH more intellectual ability. supremely confident in all settings, fearless, very outgoing and social with people and friendly with dogs. to me that looks like a tiny crate for a full size DS. what size is that broken crate by the bed?

Re: Escaping from crate
Someone once posted photos of what their DS did to aluminum. As I recall, the owner put their DS in an enclosure that had an aluminum gate (with aluminum bars that were wider than what you'd have in a crate.). Anyway, the DS did a decent job of bending them the first time they were stressed while in the enclosure.
I'll try to find the old thread where a breeder said what she used to ship her dogs.
If looking at any wire-type crates, keep in mind that many owners won't use them since the dogs can wear down or break teeth on them.
A lot of folks have liked Vari, 500 size.
EDIT: Found the thread but the breeder never mentioned a brand--just that she shipped in heavy plastic crates (but padlocked the gates since, if agitated, they could pop the gate).

johninny - the crate is 40.1"L x 26.1"W x 29.7"H
I think its large enough but wouldn't go smaller.
