- Tell us about yourself: I am a college student,wife of a disabled US Army veteran and mom to an almost 18 year old son. Our family has 11 dogs and three cats. Our two oldest dogs are Hailie a 6 year old black and sable German Shepherd Dog then Casper a nearly 6 year old white German Shepherd Dog Belgian Malinois mix. Then come Tundra and her sister Drizzit two wolf husky ACD maybe beagle we dont know whats they are 5 years old. Then comes Tundra's son Cheveyo a nearly 4 year old husky wolf whatever else his mama is and boxer/ pit bull mix who was born dead. Then come Hailie's two pups three year olds Tank and Bella black lab/ German Shepherd mixes who are both Service Dogs. Then we have 2 1/2 year old siblings Garnet and Blaize Boston Terrier Min Pin mixes then there is 1 year old Demon Shadow our Pit Bull and finally Isis our 8-12 week old Dutch Shepherd puppy who was dumped on us. We were told that she was a pit bull but we knew better right off.
New to the forum and to Dutch Shepherds but not dogs
Hello, we wanted to pop in and introduce ourselves. Isis is our young Dutch Shepherd puppy, we thought that she was just going to be with us for a short time while her "owners" tried to find a place where they could keep her but as it turns out they werent looking at all and had no intention on coming back for Isis. They told us that she was a Pit Bull but as a former pit bull breeder I knew right off that she wasnt a pit. I have to admit that the first couple weeks with her I barely slept because all she did all night long was CRY and I dont mean whine and howl for half an hour and go to sleep cuddled with her teddy bear. I mean full on SCREAMING and HOWLING like I was chopping off her paws little by little and it was all night long! My son who knows the "owners" told me that they got her when she was barely 2 weeks old so her breeding cant be the best in the world. I need to know what I am in for as I have never had a Dutch Shepherd before. She seems really smart and has already learned Sit and is learning Down.

Rescued the smartest dog i had ever seen off nyc street in 2000. Tracedog's intelligence exceeded by multiples my judgement that day. My first [and only as of 10/2012] dog turned out to be a DS, perhaps with a touch of something else, but attention to detail, behavioral traits, and physical habits, movement, and skill identical to DS. But MUCH more intellectual ability. supremely confident in all settings, fearless, very outgoing and social with people and friendly with dogs. Seldom apart in over 12 years, Trace Dog was the most important relationship of my adult life; he was my partner. - Tell us about yourself: My name is Karen and I have a dutch shepherd, Xander, born 6/14/13. He is my second dutch shepherd. My first was Rawly. Even though Xander is my second I still have a lot to learn. That is why I'm here, to learn, get advice, and meet people who love these guys as much as I do.

There are days that I dont have time to get my homework for college done till late at night. Two of the dogs that we have came from the same family, Hailie our black and sable GSD and Demon Shadow our Pit Bull. Isis is such a cute girl but she has a big issue with separation anxiety. I think a lot of that comes from her being taken away from her mom too soon.
