Post by icvanstra »

This months theme is: Photoshop

You don't have to use Photoshop itself ... any photo editing software will do. But, the idea is to have some fun with your photo editing software. Be creative and get those submissions in!!

...

The usual rules:
1) submit one photo
2) you must have the rights to the photo
3) put the dog's name in your post please

Tell us about yourself: I live in Metro-West Boston with my husband and our rescued Dutch Shepherd, Minnie. She loves anything involving activity. Our first rescued DS, Kaya, loved to tug. Our second rescued DS (who actually turned out to be a GSDx), Marley, loved to nap. I volunteer for the North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue and am a member of the NADSR BOD.

Ooooo what Canon did you get?! As far as software, I use PhotoShop and Lightroom and I find Lightroom to be MUCH MUCH more user friendly and fun to use :)

Ditto on the lightroom. It is a great way to keep track of the photo's.

There is a bunch of software out there to use for editing your photo's. Photoshop is very good and the Photoshop Elements (i.e. 'light') will do much of what Photoshop does for less money.

I had a PM asking me more info and I thought maybe more people would want to know as well...

So...

Adobe Lightroom is an application that stores/tracks your photo's. You can enter keywords for the photos, search for them, sort them, etc. It has some very basic editing features in it. Here is some more info and here is Adobe's page for it.

Adobe Photoshop is probably the premiere product on the market for photo editing and is very rich with features. ...and has a pricetag that's pretty high. Photoshop Elements is less expensive and has most of the features that the average home user would want. So, Photoshop is more for professionals and Photoshop Elements would be probably for hobbyist/enthusiast's...although I know some non-professionals that wouldn't use anything but full Photoshop.

There are other applications out there that are a lot less expensive that will let you do the basic editing of photos ... sometimes free with the camera. They may have some of the Artsy utilities as well.

What are other people using?

OMG! It's THAT stare! It's magnified like at least 100-fold in B&W! I sort of think of it as "The Dutchie Mind Trick"

:dslook:

...it's like I can feel her trying to will me to do something, but I've never been able to figure out exactly what...water, food, toy, outside? WHAT?!?!?!

I have only ever used Adobe Photoshop.

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.
