Tell us about yourself: My family welcomed our first DSD 12/14. I have shown GSD's and APBT's in conformation, my goal is to have more of a working interest with our Dutchie. My husband and I have 4 young children, Kitsune adores them. Kitsune has begun IPO training, we hope to get her BH in 2016. We are in love with this breed and have plans to import a male pup soon.

First try at IPO club!

Post by Tripmomma »

Kitsune is doing so great, she loves farm life...I'm trying like heck to get some weight back on her, running on 10 acres all day every day is making her a little too lean.

We have gone to watch at our local club, run by Kitsune's breeder, a handful of times. This last weekend she got to try out some of the puppy starting tools. She went after everything they put in front of her like she knows what she is doing. I was really impressed.

She is almost 10 months, and just went into her first season...oh the joys of girls LOL, so we have to take a club break for a little bit.

So happy for her and you! You must be excited about the future, and obviously proud of your girl.

Looks like a good bite. Solid. Did they say anything about her bite?

Thanks :)

She usually has a really great deep bite. They didn't mention anything specific on Sunday though.

She bites and hangs on for dear life while trying to pull down whatever she is on at the same time.
I need to get a new video posted to my blog of her doing nuts on a couple rope swings...she is a crazy girl LOL.

Yay Kitsune!!!! Love those genetic deep bites! She looks fairly calm on the sleeve which is awesome too. Do they teach IPO dogs to counter by pulling the sleeve or by pushing in? I can never remember... Looks like she loves it! Will you join Les' club?

Is she on kibble or raw? When H was running laps on farm land I had to up his fat and he was eating 4 lbs of meat a day. I told him to stop running. He doubled his laps. (facepalm) Still hasn't regained much of the weigh he lost.

i have the same problem with getting too lean now that demon is out on some acreage with koda.
ive just about got the portions sorted (he eats about 3 times as much as before) but his muscle definition is starting to look like hes on steroids  especially the back and hind legs. he uses up all the energy sprinting around at 4am keeping people from jumping our wall. it can be noisy at all hours of the morning but im glad hes keeping koda safe :) (its also adorable seeing them both tired out and snoozing in the sun the next day)

its a complicated situation, at the very very back of our land theres a big concrete slab wall that backs onto a not so great area. we used to have a big problem with people climbing over to do heroin and leave needles everywhere before i got koda. nowadays its mostly teenagers or people off from college looking for an isolated area to hang out and get wasted, they seem to assume its just an empty field as you cant see the house.
demon hears them and gives them a bit of a heart attack before they can get to our side of the wall, id expect the numbers of nightly incidents will slowly drop off as the area gets known for having dogs (and ive put up more "dogs roaming" signs than i should need to). its worse during the summer months.

I can imagine since Sadie gives me daily heart attacks. I am sitting working ( or typing on here )and all is quiet, they are "sleeping" and WOOF WOOF from Sadie, you have to pull me off the ceiling.

Thanks guys! We have always loved this girl, but now that she is dealing with strangers better and her training is coming along nicely I am so impressed with her.

I have a lot to learn in the sport, I'm not sure what the preferred counter is. I will be sure to ask. Yes, I am joining the club and plan to make it as often as I can, I am just a touch over an hour away now...which is much better than when I lived in Beaverton.

Kitsune is on a raw diet, we just upped her to 4lbs a day a couple days ago...she was 45 lbs just before she started running constantly, I'm not sure what she is now, figured I would get a weight on her after a week on 4lbs.
