Mad because my pit bull did not work out, still want a dutch...

Post by tofflemireally »

I have to return my brindle pitbull molly I just rescued because she barks at all strangers and has dominace issues and barks constantly at other dogs like she wants to attack on the street around her, but i still want a dutch shepherd. There so hard to find in the Eugene area, i live in an apartment and am looking for an adult because the enclosed area is carpeted and im on fourth floor, theres no waiting for a complaint in that situation. What will i do to get my dream dog. I deserve a constant companion...I have been single and depressed, for years! Most gsds i find in salem or portland have og agression issues! When will i ever find my true companion! :(

Didn't you comment in another thread that you'd never get a pittie due to the liability?

So you adopted one anyways and now you are returning her without determining if the perceived behaviors you described, which are just as equally possible to occur in a DS or cross thereof, really are aggression and/or other correctable/manageable with time and training?

How will owning a dog make you un-single or un-depressed, exactly? I've owned or at the very least lived with dogs for decades and at some point have experienced both conditions despite them being in my life.

I'm not trying to be a-holish "brutally honest", but I am trying to be frank to hopefully get you to examine your motivations as currently laid out. Your living situation (many rescues are going to exclude you just based on that) coupled with your perceived expectations do not instill confidence in me that you should be looking to a dog, any dog, to solve your problems. You will not snap out of depression because another living being is now relying on you for their everything. It will not result in a fairy tale meeting of Mr./Ms. Right at a dog park like Amazon or Armitage since you also stated earlier you feel parks would be dangerous or at Steelhead's.

And before I would agree with you every human is entitled to love/companionship via a dog, you would have to agree with me all dogs are entitled to an owner who best matches their needs, too. Anything less is unfair to everyone involved.

I'm not wasting my time reading your whole post. I've read ALL your others, and the title of this one sums you up succinctly.

I don't know what kind of game you're playing on this forum, but you are playing. Grow up.
Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

Please tell me you are joking. What you just described, describes many DS. It describes my Sadie. I dont return them, I work with them and respect what they are telling me.

I cannot understand why you would want a DS? Dogs are not clothing that you can just return because they don't fit what you want. They are living breathing creatures that deserve respect.

you can have a dog because you want a companion but that dosnt mean you deserve anything, that is not fair to the dog to put your human wants above another life's wants and needs. You are only thinking of yourself

If you are single and depressed, that is something with in you than you should work on before getting another creature to take care of, dont put your emptiness on a dog, that is not fair to them. Get a small apartment dog that you can take out for walks, go see a doctor, go to self help groups.

What will you do when you have bouts of depression and you cant get of the couch? You want a dog that wants to work and play 24/7? are you going to be okay when you are too depressed to take the dog for a walk they poop and pee all over the apt and rip everything apart?

You have not done enough soul searching and self reflection to even consider a dS, let alone any working breed.

Just to let you all know, i ran that dog and tried my hardest with it, I am depressed because i am searching for the breed i want and cant get a hold of one, no these out of control dogs are not allowed in my apartment. I read that dutches can be in an apartment setting. A neighbor complained about the dog, what was i too do? I am respectctful of other humans, unlike some of the comments i have been getting here. I took care of a GSD for 12 years and never sacrificed a day of play due to my deppression. I am saying you have to find a breed that fits your lifestyle k, and a lot of people are being really judgemental on here thinking i just abandoned a dog well the dog scared people k? Whatever trolling means i would be with the dog 24/7 so i dont think you even know me k? Not all dutchies are that protective of there ownders to bark and be aggressive.

im not sure if this thought has entered you mind, but this is called the dutch shepherd forum, the people replying to you are OWNERS of DS
" Not all dutchies are that protective of there ownders to bark and be aggressive."
yes they are, and we all know this because we have them and you do not. aggression is in the breed, barking at 4am is in the breed, killing other pets is in the breed, turning on incompetent people who cant handle these dogs is in the breed.
get a pet rock and spare another innocent animal your egotistical recklessness that is this search for a "true companion" youre not going to find.
are you aware the DS is not a companion breed? of course not.

Wow so you had to get rid of a dog for being too drive-y but you think that its a good idea to get a breed that is known for being the most drive-y? That makes no sense and for the dog's sake please don't.

I've got my guy in an apartment and if you're a good owner it can be done and done well. And returning a dog for just being a dog is far from meeting the criteria of a good owner.

She did not lunge at other dogs just for the hell of it, ahe was dominant agressive. Watch the dog whisperer k, the percentage of dogs you can train out of attacking other dogs is not likely or safe, and the lady was a liar I caught her in her b.s you want to blame me? It is her fault and her responsibility if im not correct, previous posts state you are to keep the dangerous dog you forgot to socialize and not lie and try to give dog away saying gets along well with other dogs. Flat out lie! She did not put time or energy in that dog and now that dog attacks other dogs. Your so egotistical why dont you save her, sheesh.

"watch the dog whisperer k" nothing you will see on the dog whisperer relates to the training of a DS. if thats your guide youre setting yourself up for more disaster than is already apparent. (and the general point of the the dog whisperer is that you CAN "rehabilitate" (Cesars word for it) run of the mill pet breeds with issues. fyi)

"its her fault and responsibility if im not correct" this isnt lassy come home. you get the hand youre dealt, there is no perfect dog. you giving up a dog after a day or so is on you. for all you know the dog could have gotten along great with others, it never had time to settle in and you didnt own it long enough to know the dog when its relaxed and trusts its owner. that takes time.

"your so egotistical why dont you save her, sheesh" please grow up.
