Color Me Totally Stupid

Post by leih merigian »

Usually, Geyser goes everywhere I go. If she can't go in with me, wherever it is, she just stays in her crate in the truck, with all the windows and hatchback door open.

Yesterday evening, my spousal unit and I had some errands to do, and were going to get a bit of dinner out as well. I decided to leave Geyser home...it was stinking hot, and also, I want her to keep being used to being left home alone from time to time. (These days, that means in the kitchen, with the baby gate up at the kitchen door to the rest of the house.)

At one errand, my husband went into the place, and I was waiting outside for him with my truck (SUV). I decided to back into a parking space that offered some shade, and did so.

BAM!!!!! :o

Somehow, I backed right into some branches of this stupid freaking tree, and it smashed the lift door in my hatchback to smithereens. Talk about stupid! :yernuts:

Now the good news...I'd left Geyser home, which I rarely do. Even tho it's safety glass, she would've been showered with the glass as it broke into millions of little bits and pieces.

Gotta find those silver linings...

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

Wow! Sorry about your car, but glad to hear no one got hurt! Funny how things like that happen, tho...makes you wonder if there is a guardian angel looking after Geyser ...but not your truck : (

I do believe that things happen for a reason. I am sorry about your truck though, but Im glad Sugar was home, you wouldnt want her testing a piece of glass to see if it was edible though.

Ay. Sorry to hear that Leih! :( I agree with Marjolein. I hope that tree had insurance

I had a lamp post jump right behind my backing volkswagen once, long long time ago. It was at a home improvement warehouse, and when I got out to survey the damage, to add insult to injury, some redneck (they have those in Holland too!) commented that my husband was not going to like that.
Being that I had just gone single again, that remark sure did not sit well. :ds: And for just a moment, I was too mad at the redneck to be mad at myself.

Don't beat yourself up. Trees happen.

thanks for all the kind words and laughs!

The tree did have insurance...it will only cost us $500, the tree pays $1200.

(did I say "only" cost us $500? :dsshock: )

Did the redneck survive or did you leave him bleeding at the parking lot? :hammer:

 Maybe you can get that 500 back by sueing the tree in civil court? :g_wink:
(sorry to hear that it's going to hurt your pocketbook even more than your pride. I elected, back then, not to turn it in to the insurance, because my no claim would vanish and the premium would go up. So I coughed up the full 750, since the lamp post was uninsured. If you think about it, it's pretty crazy to pay premium and still have to fork it over yourself.)
