NC rescue to WI home

Post by icvanstra »

All,

NADSR is trying to work out a transport from NC (pull/foster) to WI (permanent home).

I'm passing emails with Trudy to figure out the details of the transport. Looks like they have a gap from Asheville, NC, into Indiana.

I don't have all the details but it is tentatively looking like one of the following combinations:
A) Asheville towards Cincinnati and then 74 towards Indianapolis
B) Asheville towards Dayton, OH, and 70 towards Indianapolis.
B) Asheville towards Lexington, KY, and then on to Indianapolis

...then of course towards Chicago and into WI.

...

FYI - just reaching out to help NADSR find transports ... I don't know the details.

Tell us about yourself: Homeschool mom and farmer in Blue Ridge of North Carolina. Raise sheep. Disabled and have a service dog, a BC named Sam, who also does Dockdogs and ISDS style herding. Also do herding with another BC. Also have a retired herding BC, a young sheltie terrier I'm starting rally with, and a retired livestock guardian Maremma sheepdog. Hoping to adopt or purchase an adult Dutch Shepherd as a a candidate to succeed Sam as a mobility service dog as my condition is requiring a larger, stronger dog with more stamina and drive. I've had a Dutchie mix before and adored her.

Is this transport still trying to get underway? Or have they gotten this dog to WI? I know quite a few people traveling next week but I need to know FAST. Also, is this direct from the shelter or has the dog been in foster care and had vet work up to date for at least a week or so? I ask because the people I'd be asking would be traveling to the North American working sheepdog finals - 100s of the world's most valuable sheepdogs and many puppies - shelter goop of any kind would be a disaster to pass along. It happened one year.folks don't mind helping with home fostered dogs though.
