Tell us about yourself: We adopted Coco from a rescue group at age 3-4 months. We were told she was close to pure DS. Now nine months and starting to wonder what she really is.

We got Coco from a rescue group when she was about 4 months old and 26 lbs. They told us she was probably pure Dutch Shepherd or pretty close to it. The one thing they commented on and we noticed was how incredibly soft her coat was. She has since developed coarser, more shepherd like coat around the ruff and along her back. Her legs and sides have a very short, smooth coat. As you can see in her younger pictures, her ears were trying to stand up, however they have yet to get past about half way. When she walks her tail is down, but I have also noticed it curled up and over when excited. The other thing I have noticed is she sometimes has almost a bay-like bark or howl at times, but not always by any means. She has had an incredible amount of energy since day 1. She is very mouthy and she loves to carry a bone or toy around especially when we take her out for a "pit stop." She is prey driven - we have yet to have really introduced her to our cat. She goes nuts if she hears her. She is very alert to everything around her, but gets skittish if it's something she has never seen before. She is now 60 lbs and 21.5-22 inches at the shoulder. I am beginning to wonder what breed she really is! To me she seems small for a shepherd and also her snout seems a little on the short side. Any opinions are most welcome! Thanks.

Tell us about yourself: Rescued a dumped DS puppy from the freeway and found his littermate in a nearby shelter two weeks later.

Thank you! She is a handful but we love her! I just read another thread about them making Chewbacca sounds! What a great description and better than my attempt to describe her vocalizations. I also really like a tip I read about leashing them to you as you go about your business. Will be trying that soon. Still want to get other opinions on if she looks like a Dutch?
