- Tell us about yourself: Hello, we have rescued a new addition. His name is Kitty and he was saved from poor conditions in downtown L.A.. we saw him posted on craigslist and couldnt srop thinking about him, the next day we decided he was the one. As we had been looking at getting a pup anyways. We were told he was 8 weeks when we got him and he had been dewormed, and had shots. We were alao told he was a black lab and Australlian shepard mix. After a trip to the vet the next day, none of that held up. HE WAS ONLY 6 WEEKS!!!! had worms and no shots. Weighed 7.4 pounds, happy to inform 3 weeks of having him anf he is a whopping 15 pounds!

is Kitty a Dutch? We still aren't sure ,so far consensus seems to say yes. We just want to know for peace of mind haha, we are always looking at breeds online wondering if maybe that's what he is, besides being adorable and a total sweetheart do you think he is a dutch shepherd as well?

He doesn't have any mask from what I see...?
Can you post pics of full side and full front? Still, especially with pups, it can be hard to tell.
In a couple other threads there's breeds listed that are commonly brindled, and with the recent awareness of their existence in this country, many dogs of unknown origins are now thought to be DS, whereas before, no one knew what one was.
Not saying either way because I don't know. Not sure I've seen a Dutch without a mask or even if the genetics would produce mask-less Dutch.
For certain, you were awfully lucky to have found each other. Kitty's the cat's meow. (Yep. I went there.)

Though I can only hope to become the person who my animals believe I am, the things that they have taught me have made me a better human being. ~~~Sharon~~~

- Tell us about yourself: My name is Karen and I have a dutch shepherd, Xander, born 6/14/13. He is my second dutch shepherd. My first was Rawly. Even though Xander is my second I still have a lot to learn. That is why I'm here, to learn, get advice, and meet people who love these guys as much as I do.

I'm not sure either. My guess would be ds mix if anything. But I'm not an expert at all. I added a pic of Xander with my dad's ds, mia. She is all black. The only all black of the litter. But both parents were registered ds. Both police dogs (but mom flunked out because her she didn't have near enough drive). And both holland imports. She was also black. I had mia's brother, Rawly, he was brindle. So who knows. But kitty is absolutely adorable. I'm glad you have her.
