May 2011 Photo Contest - Skulk / Sluipen

Post by icvanstra »

This month's contest theme is:
eng: skulk
NL: sluipen

...why skulk? Well, I was having problems coming up with a theme so I used a random word generator to give me a verb....skulk it is. :yernuts:

...

The usual rules apply
- submit one photo
- you must have the rights to the photo
- please put the dog's name in the post
- Contest will be open until the end of the month and then voting will begin sometime after that.

someone asked for an explanation of the word "skulk" and I thought i would throw it out for everyone.

–verb (used without object)
1.
to lie or keep in hiding, as for some evil reason: The thief skulked in the shadows.
2.
to move in a stealthy manner; slink: The panther skulked through the bush.
3.
British . to shirk duty; malinger.

...

Marjolein / Judith - if you have a good translation into Dutch please let me know.

Tell us about yourself: I live in Metro-West Boston with my husband and our rescued Dutch Shepherd, Minnie. She loves anything involving activity. Our first rescued DS, Kaya, loved to tug. Our second rescued DS (who actually turned out to be a GSDx), Marley, loved to nap. I volunteer for the North American Dutch Shepherd Rescue and am a member of the NADSR BOD.

Tell us about yourself: I adopted a Dutch Shepherd mix (without knowing what she was) from the SPCA here in Victoria BC and am now trying to learn everything I can about this breed. My husband and I work from home most of the time so I thought it was time to get a puppy! We have his 2 boys here half the time and we wanted a nice family dog.

Sugar looks like a miniature Dutch Shepherd with floppy ears, and has every ounce of DS traits in her little body!

I hope to learn from other DS owners and share doggy experiences.

LOL - I love the theme. But I so rarely post pictures. Even with my new awesome camera I can't seem to take anything worth looking at.

Well, aside from even getting the good shot, my pup doesn't skulk. Guess we won't be entering this month's contest...

No really, Marjolein, she doesn't do anything remotely resembling skulking. Never! Now, if the monthly contest were CHARGE!, we'd be in roses<g>.
